What Is Next For Hendrick Stable?

What will come of the Hendrick Stable next year if they do not retain the Cup Title?  By many measures, this year has been somewhat of a let-down for the Hendrick bunch.  Their 6 wins for the year is the lowest total since their 4 wins in 2000, one of which came from Jerry Nadeau.  No wins this year from the "crazy old man", none from "wonder boy", and none from "june bug."  Yes, surprise surprise, all 6 are from Jimmy Johnson.  To say there will be a shuffle or changes would be an understatement.

The last time Hendrick was met with such a need for change at Hendrick Motorsports was after the 2005 season.  In 2005 Gordon finished Johnson finished 5th, Gordon 11th, Vickers 17th, and Busch finished 20th.  Thats right, only one car in the top 10 in points... Jimmy Johnson.  The next year, 2006, Johnson finished 1st, Gordon 6th, Busch 10th, and Vickers 15th.  All four in the top 15 and 3 in the top 10.

This year the points positions are not quite as dim as in '05, but as I said, win totals are horrible.  Current point positions are Johnson 2nd, Gordon 6th, Martin 13th, and Jr 19th.  If Hendrick can shake things up like he did after 2005, next couple of years could be good.  Combined win totals for 2006 and 2007: 27/72 races.  Thats every third race.
